9.12.06- Website is now up and Running! This is going to be a showcase of
my 9 second 1992 Eagle Talon TSi. Thanks for viewing!
UPDATES:
9.4.06- I am up and running on any entirely new tune. With the help of
Jake Montgomery we were able to get a much more streetable tune with
greater resolution and tuning capability. This is going to further assist
the cars ability to hit the 8s this year.
9.7.06- New tune in place and four gear pulls of tuning, I headed for the
local drag track. With a few shake down passes I was able to get into the
mid 9s with less power then before. This is a very large jump from my
previous high 9 second passes. Some more practice in the launch, and
getting the car to its peak power potential, I am hoping to see the 8s
sooner than not.
9.12.06- I have done a little bit of updating at this point. Added a bunch
of videos to the Media section. Look forward to my updates and new track
videos this weekend, when I attempt to shatter my previous times!
9.14.06- In preparation of my venture into the "Realm of 50+ PSi." I had a
minor delay, when I tore a coil boot. Soon to be fixed, I will be heading
to the local track again for some test and tune. At this point we will be
bringing nearly 900whp to a street driven application. I will be
continuing to get this car down the track faster, as well as, down the
road more reliably. As I have said before: "I wouldn't build it,
if I couldn't drive it!"
9.19.06- The rough creation of my cold air intake has been made. After
nearly $400.oo and some head scratching, I was able to make the 5" intake
from the fender well to turbo. I am hoping this will bring me closer to
the full potential of the 94mm GT42r before we go bigger.
9.18.06- This coming week will prove challenging as I have somehow found
my self entered in 3 separate race events this weekend alone!
Thursday: Slicks Only
Saturday: RSD (Real Street Drags)
Sunday: Import Wars # 6
If anyone is interested in joining us at the track, the support is always
welcome!
9.22.06- The thought of "Bigger" has been going through my mind since I
began to max out my turbo on the dyno. Over the last several days, I have
been very actively pursuing the upgrade. I have been coming to the
conclusion, the industry has not developed to the level I am looking for.
Keeping in mind I do not use N20, and this car does get street driven, My
turbo choice is key. Garrett is just beginning to release some higher HP
turbos, but I am just not convinced. So I turned to the advice of Robert @
Forced Performance. After a short conversation with him, I am very excited
for what will come in the following season.
9.24.06- I got down to the track today and set a personal best time of
9.53 @ 150! The track prep was not as great as it has been, but I did get
the chance to test out the new 5" cold air intake. WOW that helped. With
out touching a thing, from my last 40psi pass, I was able to bring 45 psi
out of the turbo. With better track prep and some work on my driving, I am
going to be shooting for the low 9sec pass I have been looking for.
11.19.06- I have been working on a year end video to show the progression
on the season. Check it out! in the Media section. Otherwise, the
upgraded turbo is on the car. This is a custom creation that was only
possible with the help of Jeff K. of Fuel Systems Inc. Contact him (his
phone # is in my Support page) if you need an edge to set you aside from
the rest. I am currently getting ready for the upcoming season. After
getting an uncracked manifold on the car... I should be some tuning away
for BIGGER AND BETTER!
2.05.07- Winter is here along with the -8deg days. Needless to say, there
has been little physical progress with the car. I have been planning a
slightly "higher output" build for the 2007 season and it is all beginning
to come together now.
I have the new exhaust manifold a few welds away from going on the car.
Click the "T4Manifold" link up to top get more details. This is going very
well and I am really looking forward to having my own manifold on the car
again. In my case... This was one of those "if you want it done right, do
it yourself" kinda things.
Otherwise... I am getting ready for a large power increase and have been
going over my bases. One of the only things that I am not 100% about is
the fuel pumps. One of the pumps needed replacing (just worn) and instead
of just throwing a new one in there, I decided to put a little more
thought and math behind it. After evaluating my fuel requirements... I am
amazed that I have come this far with the current pump setup. This has
really opened my eyes. Because of this, I am going to be switching over to
a mechanical Aeromotive pump. The installation should be fairly straight
forward, and I will begin shortly. The pump and regulator are already
ordered, and I will give more info about that as things progress.
Long Story Short... I am kickin it into high gear so I can get any bugs
worked out by the beginning of the 2007 season.
6.24.07- This season has been going much differently then I had intended
it to. Sorry to say, but I have not been able to get any racing in this
year. The new setup is on the car and ready to go, but the costs of a 9
second car have been adding up and making it nearly impossible for me to
afford racing.
Because of this, I hate to say that I have decided to begin parting the
car out. Everything will go, so please contact me if there is any thing
that may interest you. BUT!... I may not be able to keep up with a 9 sec
car any more, but I am not hurting for cash so bad that I am willing to
take super low ball offers. Please don't bother contacting me if that is
your intension.
Thanks to all the people who have supported me over the years!
9.16.07- I was able to take the Talon to the drag strip today. I finally
have had a chance to get to the few loose ends on the car that were
keeping me from racing. After replacing the 2 front tires (just worn), one
of the Aeromotive 700hp pumps with an A1000, and some 40+ psi street
tuning with the new turbo and manifold I was pretty excited to get to the
track. The car was feeling more responsive and powerful then I have ever
felt before.
The first pass at the track in over 1 year and I over heated the clutch.
This just caused it to slip and give me a poor time. I let it cool down
for a while and went back out. This next pass was not with out its
problems though. The launch was better but right at the top of first gear
there was a noticeable problem. After coasting to the end of the track,
and turning on to the return road, I noticed that the engine had suffered
some damage.
After returning home and inspecting the damage, I uncovered the problem. 2
of the solid lifters I was using, had loosened and thrown the rocker off.
One of these was on the exhaust side of cylinder 3. The valve must have
been held open by the rocker for a moment before the rocker was tossed,
and caused the over sized valves to destroy the piston. This is as far as
the damage has been assessed so far.
I am going to be working to figure out which parts are salvageable and to
get a rough idea of how much it is going to cost to get this near 1000hp
car back on the road and at the track. If there are any businesses that
would be interested in assisting with the engine assembly, please email
me. Needless to say... The car is not for sale!
10.9.07- I have been planning out what I am going to be doing with the car
for some time now. Considering that my financial situation is different
then it used to be and my goals have changed, I completely changing the
car. I have a page of the parts that I am selling listed, so please take a
look and let me know if there is anything I can help with.
I am making a new animal that is going to test my skills and knowledge
better than the current setup. I will display any major updates as they
happen. Thanks again!!! To all of my supporters.
3.04.08- As spring is right around the corner, JHRacing is hard at work to
bring you new and exciting products for the summer of 2008. I currently am
taking orders for the Divided T4 Manifolds. Please check out the "Twin
Scroll T4" page for further information. I am working to keep these in
stock and ready to go. Take advantage of this and don't be stuck waiting
for your manifold.
Please keep current for all the new designs to come as well!!!
6.03.08- I have begun working on the new RWD setup for the Talon. I am
keeping a picture log of the build-up, so please check it out. Be sure to
check back for updates, as I am updating my progress several times a week.
If there are any fabricated parts you are interested in having me make,
please email me so that we can discuss the details.
I am going to be releasing several more manifold designs in the next few
weeks. These include: a standard T3, a RWD divided T4, a Top Mount T3, and
a new line of JHRACING Intake Manifolds.
Also, I have a very good friend of mine (and fellow DSMer) in the hospital
right now, and I am asking everyone to keep a spot in their thoughts for
him.
4.07.09- Spring is here and we are kicking off the year with some killer
sales on manifolds. We are shipping these out daily to keep up with the
demand. If you are ready to order, interested or have any questions... Be
sure to give us a call 262-993-6683 or shoot us an email, so we can get
what you need taken care of.
We are also working on a few new connections and some new shop equipment
